How
Cart32 works
Let's look at Cart32 from the view point of a shopper on a website. Below is a general description of how Cart32 works when a customer accesses a web site and orders products.
Cart32 is designed to work with an existing, hosted website. Cart32 is only shopping cart software and it does not create website pages. If you are looking for software to create your website, then consider Cart32 Store Manager designed to work with the Cart32 shopping cart. To add Cart32 to your website, you will need to add HTML forms to your website for each item that you want to sell on your website. Cart32 uses standard HTML forms to submit the item details to the Cart32 software. If you do not know HTML, do not fear. Cart32 offers a free form wizard that will generate the HTML code for you. You simply copy and paste the code from the wizard into your website page. See Cart32 form wizard below for more information. return to table of contents For example:

2. Cart32 web administration The secure Cart32
web based
administration is the control panel for the Cart32 software.
The web admin is only accessed by the owner of the cart or
"client". The customer or shopper on the site does not access
the web admin. The web admin is where the client changes the
cart settings for appearance of the
cart, taxes, shipping, discounts, gift certificates, and much
more.
When first using Cart32, you will need to login to the Cart32 web admin to setup the basic settings. See Getting Started, Cart32 web administration below for more information. return to table of contents |

3. Cart32 form wizard Cart32 uses standard HTML forms to submit the item details to the Cart32 software. If HTML isn't your thing, don't worry, we have many tools available to make your life easier or create the entire online store for you. We have a free form wizard that you can download or use online to make your job easier. Visit www.cart32.com for more information about our Store Manager software (to create the entire store for you) or our Form Wizards available for FrontPage and DreamWeaver. return to table of contents |

Store
Manager (additional) Cart32 is only the shopping
cart portion of a site. If you are looking for software to
build the front end or store front of your site, we recommend Cart32
Store Manager. Store Manager uses a web-based administration
to setup categories and subcategories and products and any product
options. This information is stored in a database for easy
updating and maintaining. Store Manager will dynamically
create your site from the categories and products you have
entered. It also includes a search feature and the ability to
suggest related items
for cross-selling functionality. You do not have to know HTML
or have database experience to use Store Manager. All of its
functions are performed through the web-based interface. For
more information or to demo Store Manager, please visit www.cart32.com/storemanger.asp.

Logging
in for the first
time To login to the Cart32 web
administration, go to
https://www.cart32hosting.com/sheerwebhost/c32web.exe
in your web browser.
Enter your client code, usually
your domain name with no spaces, and click Next.
Enter your client password and click OK. return to table of contents ![]() Private/Public Encryption Keys If this is your first time logging in, you will be prompted to setup Private/Public Encryption Keys. The price encryption key is for increased protection of credit card information. Cart32 generates a public and private key pair to encrypt the credit card data. The public key will be stored on the server and the private key will be stored on your computer in a file or in the registry. Only the public key is needed to encrypt the data, but both the public and private keys are needed to decrypt the data. By default, the credit card data is stored encrypted in the Cart32 database. The price encryption key is optional, but provides an additional layer of security on the credit card data. IF THE PRIVATE KEY IS LOST THE THEN THE CREDIT CARD DATA WILL NOT BE RETRIEVABLE. Please protect your private key. If it is lost there is nothing that can be done to retrieve the data. Your customers credit card data will be safe as long as the private key is in your care. To retrieve orders with public key encrypted credit card numbers you will need to use the same machine and browser that you used to generate the keys. If you setup the keys, Cart32 will launch an object that will be used to generate the keys, save the private key to your hard drive. You can select Skip for now or Skip altogether and setup the keys at a later time if you are unsure about setting up the keys. Click Click here to continue if you wish to setup the keys. Only
the computer that you have placed the keys on can view the credit card
numbers. The key can be copied to additional machines. See
knowledge base articles C088
and C089
for more details. Making Changes When making changes
in the Cart32 web admin, always click the SAVE button to save
your changes. Help Most
