Cart32 v6
Shopping Cart Customizable Templates Tutorial
Instructions for use of customizable Cart32 templates in your shopping
cart.
IMPORTANT! SheerWebHost.com cannot be held responsible for
problems arising from using customized template files. Be certain you have
the original Cart32 shopping cart templates handy so you can quickly
revert back to normal operation if something goes wrong. Do not customize
the templates unless you feel comfortable making these changes and have
read all instructions at the Cart32 website pertaining to
customizing.
These instructions assume you have already implemented the Cart32
application. (That is, you have requested SheerWebHost.com, to create a
secure directory and requested
the setup of your Cart32 account.) You will need to have configured the
shopping cart so that you know it's working. We also assume you have at
least an intermediate programming skill level.
If the above steps are already taken, then it'is possible to create and
edit a new set of template files customized for your domain. In most cases
the current template files are quite suitable but there are instances
where some pages and/or the email text must be altered to reflect the
needs of certain merchants. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Obtain the full set of the Cart32 template files. Because
SheerWebHost.com keeps the original template files in a directory unavailable
to clients (for security reasons), you will have to download the templates
in a zip file by clicking
here.
2. Once you unzip the file, make a backup copy of all the template
files (24 total). It is very important to make a
backup copy of all the templates inc case you encounter problems while
customizing the page you can convert back to the original template
files.
3. Edit those files you wish to change. Be sure that
you do not use any type of HTML editor such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver to
edit the template files. You will need to use Notepad or some basic editor
in order to keep from corrupting the files and making them unreadable by
the shopping cart.
4. Transfer all 24 files to your secure
server directory. Instructions on accessing your secure server were
emailed to you.
5. Following the Customize instructions from
Cart32, go to the Advanced section (shown below) and enter the
following path into the "Template File Directory" field:
d:\html\users\readysecure1com\users\yourclientcom\ or C:\ozarkol\sheerwebhost\client\clientcode\images\ where
clientcode is your user directory on your secure server. You will leave the
File Extensions for template files field blank.

6. Test the shopping cart. You should immediately see the edited
files in place of the originals. TEST THOROUGHLY! Be prepared to either
replace the edited files with the original backup copies or remove the
pathname from the Template Directory field (shown above) if something goes
wrong.
IMPORTANT! SheerWebHost.com cannot be held responsible
for problems arising from using customized template files. Be certain you
have the original Cart32 shopping cart templates handy so you can quickly
revert back to normal operation if something goes wrong. Do not customize
the templates unless you feel comfortable making these changes and have
read all instructions at the Cart32 website pertaining to
customizing.
